The Volkswagen Tiguan is changing quite a bit.
At the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen rolled out a new Tiguan long-wheelbase model, but it’ll be the only Tiguan offered in North America. The new Tiguan will be offered with either two- or three-row seating and measures 10.7-inches longer than the current model, adding up to 57 percent more cargo space. The third row comes standard on front-wheel-drive models, but will be optional on all-wheel-drive units.
2017 Detroit Auto Show Coverage
A familiar but updated 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is under the hood with 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Standard is an eight-speed automatic transmission. In terms of styling, the Tiguan gets a minor update, but there’s more changes on the inside with premium materials and updated technology.
The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan will join the new Atlas SUV to boost Volkswagen’s crossover and SUV offerings in the U.S.
