The highly dreaded Lodha Panel is at it yet again and has presented another demand in front of the BCCI. In a fresh series of instructions meant for the BCCI, the Lodha Panel has clearly instructed the board that only former players, who have represented India in Test matches, can select the Irani Trophy team. Irani Trophy refers to the game played between the champions of Ranji Trophy and the Rest of India team.
The Supreme Court appointed panel had given massive jolt to the BCCI a few weeks ago when it set forward the rules for future reforms. Among those reforms, one move which stood out was to have just three selectors at the national level of the game. At present, the BCCI operates with selectors from each zone along with a chief selector.
In the same statement, the rule concerning three national selectors was addressed too.
Despite having a change in the overall leadership of the BCCI, a member of the Lodha panel admitted that there was still some “mischief” around.
