The Jamaica Fire Brigade has now ordered the closure of the RIU Hotel in Montego Bay, St James following a major explosion in the boiler room yesterday.
One person was killed and three others injured in the explosion.
Yesterday, Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Emeleo Ebanks said the hotel would remain open since further threat had been averted.

But speaking this morning on Independent Talk on Power 106FM, Ebanks said, overnight, the decision was made to suspend operations at the hotel because of the boiler room explosion.

"Power had to be cut to the facility because this is where the running of the hotel has to take place," he said.
Ebanks also said a major investigation is underway by the fire services into the possible cause of the explosion.
The hotel was not immediately contacted to comment on the alternative arrangements.
