After landing successful teams in the Indian Premier League and the Caribbean Premier League, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan now owns another team in Cricket South Africa’s latest initiative the Global T20 League. Similar to the names of the iconic Kolkata Knight Riders and the Trinbago Knight Riders, the team from Cape Town has been given the name of the Cape Town Knight Riders. Not only the names are similar but it came into recognition that the logo of the team is also similar to that of the superstar’s other two teams.
The main story:
The logo of the Cape Town Knight Riders was revealed on Twitter by the Global T20 League’s official Twitter handle. However, there is a small difference in the three logos. While the Kolkata Knight Riders have strokes of gold and the Trinbago team has strokes of red, the Cape Town logo has been assigned with strokes of magenta. Considering the fact that the Kolkata Knight Riders Jersey has a significant amount of the colour gold and the Trinbago Jersey revolves around red, it can be assumed that the strokes of magenta have something to do with the team’s jersey colour.
The tweet from the Global T20’s official handle mentioned that the logo matches the team’s dynamic personality. The tweet read “The Cape Town Knight Riders have officially revealed their logo – symbolic of the team’s dynamic personality. Follow them:”
The Cape Town Knight Riders will have South African batsman JP Duminy as their Protea marquee player in the league that starts in November. the final will be held on December 16, 2017. The tournament will be played between 8 teams with a double round robin league followed by playoffs.
However, the league is all set to clash with the Bangladesh Premier League and Cricket Australia’s Big Bash League which will also take place during that time.
