Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Thambithurai has said that he was very much in agreement with the decision of the ruling EPS faction of AIADMK in Tamil Nadu to keep jailbirds Sasikala and Dinakaran away from the party fold.
Speaking to newsmen in Delhi yesterday, Thambithurai said that he would abide by the party high command’s decision in this regard. Thambithurai, who was in the news early this week when his decision to speak in Tamil in Parliament was turned down by other MPs, said that there was no split/factional feud in the AIADMK. “We stand united and the party functions on the guidance of the high command,” he said.
“Even in future, the party shall continue to be guided by the decisions taken by its presidium. It is for the Election Commission and the Courts to decide whether the AIADMK stands united or is split. No individual or organization has the right to decide it or comment about it. A split occurs only when two-thirds of the partymen go away; only the media has been talking about 3 or 4 splits in the party.
“We abide by the party’s decision to keep Dinakaran and Sasikala away from the party. Presidium members, who were appointed by the late ‘Puratchithalaivi’ Jayalalithaa, have taken a decision which is only good for the party which would not only complete its remaining term of 4 years in the office but would also rule the State for the next 100 years to come,” Thambithurai said.
