Mysuru, November 13:- Dalit organisations have urged the ruling Congress to give ticket to former MLA Chikkanna to contest from H D Kote reserved constituency in the 2018 Assembly polls. They asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar, District In-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, and MP Dhruvanarayan to consider the candidature of Chikkanna.
“When he was an MLA, Chikkanna tried hard to develop the constituency. He has been impartial throughout. He constructed temples, community centres for all. He actively involved in protests for Cauvery. He also worked as the president of Nayaka community of Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts. Strangely, he is being billed as anti-Dalit, which is far from truth. Government should understand this and make Chikkanna the Congress candidate,” said H C Srinivas at a press meet on Monday.
