Tankha rejects KPCC request, appears for Thomas Chandy
Kochi, Nov 14 (UNI) Amid protest from the Kerala Congress Committee and waving of ‘’black flag’’ by the Youth Congress activists leading counsel and Congress leader Vivek Tankha has appeared for NCP leader and Kerala Transport Minister Thomas Chandy in the Kerala High Court over his alleged involvement in encroachment of government land.
The Youth Congress activists waved black flags by shouting ‘’go back’’ when Mr Tankha came from his hotel room on way to the High Court today.
Police forcefully removed the agitators from the scene to pave way for the Rajya Sabha MP to proceed the Hgh Court.
Though KPCC president M M Hassan had contacted Mr Tankha and informed the feelings of Congress workers in the state, it was rejected by the latter stating that he was representing as an advocate.
Even as the demand for the resignation of Mr Chandy from various quarters, including the second leading coalition partner CPI, the Minister was silent, and even his party leadership said that a decision would be taken only after the outcome of the High Court verdict.
