The Lexus LS flagship sedan has been redesigned.
Bowing at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, the 2018 Lexus LS rides on a stretched version of the platform currently underpinning the new Lexus LC coupe. As a result, the new LS is about 1.3-inches longer than the current model, but it weighs 200 pounds less thanks to high-strength steel and aluminum being used.
The sedan also benefits from a new twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine with 415 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque and the automaker says it’s good to sprint to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds. The same 10-speed automatic transmission found in the LC500 finds its way to the LS.
2017 Detroit Auto Show Coverage
Although it didn’t make an appearance in Detroit, you can expect a hybrid version of the LS to be introduced in the near future, just like the LC500h. Look for the 2018 Lexus LS to arrive dealerships in the U.S. near the end of the year.
