Peddapalli: Welfare and police department officials were directed to identify child labourers in the district and take stringent action against their employers.District Collector Dr V S Alagu Varshini chaired a meeting with officials of Welfare, Labour and Police departments as part of Child Protection Project at the Collectorate conference hall here on Wednesday.
Addressing the officials, she told them to identify missing children, street children and those begging in the towns and cities along with those, who are working at different places and hand over them to Child Protection and Welfare centre to make the Operation smile-III phase successful in the district.
“Especially focus on those children working in brick kilns and take stringent actions on the kilns’ owners”. She told them to hand over boys among those identified to Anand Nilayam Child Protection Centre at Rangalpalli and girls in Kasturba School.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Malla Reddy, District Welfare Officer A Padmavathi, District Education Officer Venkateshwar Rao, Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee G Komuraiah and District Child Protection Officer Lakshmi Rajam were present along with others.
