Bengaluru: Street harasser tells girls to hug him; lands in police net
BENGALURU: A street harasser aged around 20-year-old who allegedly molested girls and pestered them to hug him, has landed in police custody.
The harasser recognized as Manikanta alias Mani, a resident of Muneshwara Block, Vyalikaval, was detained by the police officials on Wednesday. The Vyalikaval police officials received two complaints against the accused on Tuesday.
Firstly, the mason harassed a college girl on Tuesday morning near Sadashivanagar swimming pool area. The accused asked her to hug him and suggested that she should marry him. The college girl fled the place and held up a police protest at night. Around a similar time, the guardians of a schoolgirl touched base at the station and told police their daughter had been hassled by a mason. The bicycle borne youth had addressed the secondary school girl at 4.30pm when she was heading home and stated: ‘Please embrace me and marry me.’
The understudy raised a caution and bystanders whipped Manikanta, who figured out how to escape before police arrived. In a rush, he deserted his bicycle. The portrayal of the denounced given by the two young ladies coordinated. Police connected with RTO authorities with the points of interest of the surrendered cruiser and in view of the address given, they grabbed Manikanta for addressing on Wednesday morning.
Manikanta was reserved under the Pocso Act and Section 354 An of IPC (insulting unobtrusiveness of lady). Both the young ladies distinguished him as their tormentor. Local people told police the blamed is infamous for annoying young ladies. “He would stop his motorbike close them, pass obscene remarks and dash away,” they said.
