16 Years Of 9/11 Terrorist Attack: The Change In World Order

SocialPost 2017-09-11 19:19:49

It has been 16 years since the Al Qaeda based Jihadi terrorists flew passenger trains into the twin towers in New York and Pentagon. The terrorist attack received unprecedented media coverage and reshaped international relations. The attack took the lives of 3000 innocent people and triggered a war against the Taliban in Afghanistan where Osama Bin Laden was in the supposed hide out.

From George Bush to Donald Trump – US policies have changed altogether. Be it Afghanistan war or Iraq war, the US soldiers along with the NATO soldiers have been associated in gruesome battles in unknown terrain. In all these years, Pakistan has been a victim of Taliban attacks as well going, a variant of civil war within its states.

North Korea and Iran have been adamant on their nuclear programmes and 16 years after, US is planning an attack on North Korea. The phrase ‘war on terrorism’ – has become the most used term and almost all the countries have taken sides in this regard. As far as India is concerned, the bipartite relations with US has improved a lot but as far as Russia is concerned, the same thing can’t be referred to.

In the last 16 years, India has also been the victim of terrorist attacks. Bordering rivalry with China is far from being over and Pakistan sponsored terrorism is still creating havoc in the Kashmir valley.

Interestingly, 9/11 also highlighted the whole aspect of Islamic terrorism and the arrival of Islamist ISIS has been a further continuation of such. In Europe, Brexit has no doubt complicated the economic matters and Donald Trump’s aggressive policy has already received flak for rightist approach.

9/11 is still remembered an occurrence – a threat to the whole idea of global existence and certainly terrorism is no more a regional issue. What happened in New York can happen anywhere in the world, anytime!
