Blue Whale Challenge: Commissionerate police rescues B Tech graduate in Odisha capital
Bhubaneswar: Twin City Commissionerate police today rescued a B Tech graduate from the claws of lethal Blue Whale Challenge in Odisha capital, who had already cut his hand in an attempt to tattoo a picture of the logo of the game.
The victim has been identified as Swadhin Kumar Rout (28) of Old Town area under Lingaraj police station, a BTech graduate.
According to reports, Swadhin was playing the deadly game for last 15-20 days and persuading his friends to play the online game.
Today he informed his friends on social media that he was going to tattoo the Blue Whale logo on his hand.
Taking immediate measure to save the youth, one of his friends informed the incident to Pradeep Seva Trust, a social organization.
The organization took the matter to the Commissionerate police and police with help of the trust swung into action to save the youth.
By the time they reached the house of the victim, he had already attempted to cut his left hand to tattoo a blue whale in a closed room.
Police requested him to open the door, but in vain. Police broke into the room and rescued the victim with several cut marks on his body – eight cut marks on belly and three on the chest.
Police also seized a shaving blade from his possession, which he was not willing to hand over. A police ASI, identified as Subash Nayak was injured trying to take the blade from the victim.
He was admitted to NAC hospital, Old Town and handed over to his aunt after treatment.
More to the misery, his father is a paralysis patient.
