DUSU polls: Big setback to ABVP, Congress’ NSUI wins president's post after 4 yrs
New Delhi: In Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections, the Congress’ student body NSUI has defeated RSS-affiliated ABVP.
NSUI’s candidate Rockey Tuseed was declared DUSU President as per the poll results announced on Wednesday by the Delhi University’s Chief Election Officer’s office.
The NSUI ((National Students Union of India) has won DUSU president's post after a gap of four long years.
Reacting to victory NSUI said, "This mandate is a clear indication that student fraternity have restored their faith in Congress and our beloved leader Rahul Gandhi".
Rocky Tuseed defeated ABVP’s presidential candidate Rajat Choudhary and All India Students Association (AISA)’s Parul Chauhan.
NSUI also won the post of Vice-President.
The DUSU’s secretary and joint-secretary posts have gone to ABVP (Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad).
Interestingly, when the initial list of presidential candidates was released, Rocky’s name was not there.
Reportedly, he was disqualified by the Delhi University’s Chief Election Officer in the wake of a disciplinary action taken against him in the past by Shivaji College in 2014.
