Varanasi sex workers want PM to adopt their village

UNI India-English 2017-12-06 13:40:00
Varanasi, Dec 6 (UNI) Several women engaged in prostitution in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency of Varanasi have urged him to adopt their Shivdaspur village and rehabilitate them.

The women have alleged social neglect and official apathy had compelled them to live a life of hell, but they now desire that their future generations join the mainstream of the society and lead a respectable life as others.

The infamous Shivdaspur lies on the outskirts of Varanasi in Maduadih area and the dwellings of the prostitutes are adorned with posters of Mahatma Gandhi and PM Modi.

“Impressed by PM Modi’s speeches, I voted for him in the Lok Sabha elections.
But nothing has changed for us in the past three-and-a-half years,” said 45-year-old Ruby (name changed).
