Preserve, promote Nagas culture & traditions: Eshak

Parliamentary secretary for art & culture and chairman, NHHDC, Eshak Konyak, has called upon the people to put concerted effort to preserve and promote the rich culture and traditions of the Nagas. Speaking at the second day of the ongoing 65th session of Phom Students’ Conference at Pongo village as the chief guest, Thursday, Eshak said the younger generation must preserve and promote the rich Naga culture and traditions so that Naga society would not face difficulties while tracing their culture in future. Lamenting that Nagas have kept distance from their rich culture, tradition and identity while pursuing for the modern education, he cautioned that no society or organisation would progress unless it trace out and preserve the culture of their land. Eshak also called upon the student community to be more vigilant while taking decisions and asked them to be honest and hardworking and not look for easy earnings. Appealing the people to opt for “clean election” so as to see positive changes in the society, he said the people should not also talk/preach about “clean election” but also put into practice. The second day of the conference was marked by various competitions among the federating units which included volleyball match (male and female), clean election open marathon race, archery competition (male and female), essay & quiz competition and wooden car race.
