Samsung mobile chief DJ Koh at the CES 2018confirmed that the company will be launching its first flagship smartphone at MWC 2018 conference. He however, added that the company’s first foldable smartphone will be arriving next year. What he may not have mentioned is that the company privately showcased that foldable handset to select vendors at CES2018.

According to a report by ET News, Samsung showcased its foldable smartphone to select crowd at CES 2018. The tech giant is also said to have mentioned the launch time frame of the particular device. The report says that the production of the foldable smartphone is likely to begin by the end of this year. Furthermore, it has been revealed that the product may feature a 7.3-inch panel.

It is worth mentioning that Samsung last year at MWC 2017 too revealed the foldable smartphone but this time it showed an upgraded version of the same.

The smartphone is being tipped as the ‘Galaxy X’ and reportedly went through Bluetooth certification. The company also filed a patent for the same device recently. According to LetsGoDigital website, Samsung filed a patent with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The patent showed the smartphone sporting two screens with a piece of metal fixed in between them, indicating the device to be a ‘foldable’ one. The design of the device seems similar to the ZTE Axon M.

Furthermore, it was mentioned that the foldable smartphone or the ‘ Galaxy X ‘ will come with triple antennas so the networks don’t interfere if the device gets folded.

For now, the company is focussing on its upcoming flagship, Galaxy S9 . It has started mass producing large storage chips, processors and more for the device. It is also said to be working with Qualcomm to bring the Snapdragon 845 processor.
