Tiruchy Youth Congress stages ‘pakoda protests’
Attired in graduate gowns, the members of Youth Congress on Monday prepared pakodas and sold them as a way of protest against the statements of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the unemployment issue here on Monday.
The members, who gathered at the district headquarters, started preparing pakodas and serving them among the cadre who assembled there. While addressing the reporters, a senior Congress cadre said, recently BJP leader Amit Shah and the Prime Minister Narandra Modi had made a comment of urging the unemployed youths to
sell pakodas instead of searching for jobs in India. “Instead of creating opportunities as he had promised during the election campaign, he had ridiculed the unemployed youth of the nation,” he said. Subsequently, they raised slogans against the Centre and the Prime Minister and claimed that the BJP has lost confidence of the people, especially the youth of the country.
A similar protest was staged in the Congress office by the Youth Congress Committee members to express their condemnation. They also said that the pakoda protests would continue across the entire district.
