Mayawati annoyed over BJP leaders taking Varanasi bridge collapse incident 'lightly'
Lucknow, May 16 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) supremo Mayawati has expressed her grief over the death of people in Varanasi bridge collapse but was equally annoyed with the attitude of the BJP leaders for taking the matter 'lightly'.
Without taking names and hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ms Mayawati said that just commenting that the Varanasi incident was a " Maan Par Bhoj' shows that the BJP leaders were not serious on the incident.
In a statement here on Wednesday, the BSP president said that a high-level probe should be ordered and the guilty people should be given strict punishment.
However, the former UP CM was critical on part of the UP government's state of affairs and claimed the jungle Raj prevailed as law and order has deteriorated.
"The criminals are having a field day in the state and the BJP government has failed to control them," she said.
The BSP president also slammed the BJP for rising atrocities against the Dalits and backwards in the state.
