Kejriwal seeks report on kindergarten students confinement

Taking a serious view of alleged confinement of kindergarten students in the basement of a school due to non-payment of fees, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday sought report from the Education Department on the matter and said he along with Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia would visit the school on Thursday.

"Myself and Dy CM will visit the school tomorrow at 10 am (1000 hrs)," the Chief Minister said in a tweet. Mr Kejriwal said that he would meet the kids, their parents and school authorities .

Earlier, Mr Sisodia said the Chief Minister has sought report over the matter. "Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sought report on Rabea Public School issue. He has called Secretary and Director education with all facts," he said.

Mr Sisodia, who also holds the Education portfolio, said that he was shocked to know about the incident and immediately asked the officers concerned to take strict action after he came to know about the incident on Tuesday. Around 16 kindergarten students of the private School in old Delhi were allegedly locked up in basement due to non payment of fee.

An FIR has been registered in the matter against the concerned school authorities and investigation was underway.
