International conference on business research held at SRM

The Department of Commerce in SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, recently organised the 5th edition of the International Conference on Business research. The department received more than 170 research papers, out of which 160 were selected for proceedings.

Chennai: The conference saw many research papers submitted from India, USA, UK, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Australia, Singapore and other countries. As many as 44 UG and PG students, 30 research scholars and 25 academicians presented their paper.
All the publications were published in E-proceedings and the SRM Business Horizon Journal. A few of the papers were also published in UGC indexed/Scopus journal. 
The chief guests for the conference were R S Isabella, Executive Director/MD (In-Charge), REPCO Bank, S Kannan, Commissioner, Central Board of Excise and Customs, Dr Ankit Katrodia, University of KwaZulu Natal-Durban, South Africa and K Ravi, Deputy General Manager, RBI, Chennai.
In her speech, R S Isabella highlighted the importance of banking sector in India. She explained the growth of the Indian economy through the banking sector and how it is different from other countries. For instance, countries like the US and the UK have private sectors contributing to their economy.
S Kannan spoke about the advantages of GST reforms and about the importance of students knowing the fundamental concepts.
