Hyderabad man donates Rs 8 crore land in Chennai to Cancer Institute

At a time when police are struggling to handle land grab cases in Chennai and neighbouring districts because of sky rocketing land price, a man from Hyderabad donated 40 acres of land worth Rs 8 crore near Chennai belonging to his family, to Adyar Cancer Institute on Wednesday.

KV Subba Rao , his wife Pramila Rani, hand over the land deed in Chennai on Wednesday Chennai: KV Subba Rao, 74 and his wife Pramila Rani executed the deed related to the land located in Soorapundi  near Gummidipoondi because his father  Krishnaiah had died of cancer in 1974 and he wanted to help others suffering from the dreaded disease.
Dr AV Lakhshmanan, represented the Adyar Cancer Institute during the transaction at the Gummidipoondi sub registrar office on Wednesday. 
“At the time of my father’s death there was not much treatment for cancer, but now it has become a common disease. A large number of people are suffering because they can’t afford the treatment.  We came to know that Adyar Cancer Institute is doing great work in treating people on humanitarian grounds. So, we wanted to help the institute and decided to donate the land,” he said.
