De facto Scindia vs Scinda fight in battle for Shivpuri

webindia123 2018-10-11 00:00:00
The battle to five assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri District evokes special interest every time it goes to hustings owing to a direct contest between members of Scindia family as well as two bigwigs of both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.

Of the five assembly constituencies in Shivpuri, two constituencies Karaira and Pohri are in Gwalior parliamentary constituency and three others Shivpuri, Pichhore and Kolaras in Guna-Shivpuri constituency. Consequently, it pits Gwalior MP and Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar against Guna-Shivpuri MP and former Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. Likewise, Mr Scindia and his aunt and state cabinet minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia locked horns in Shivpuri.

The importance of this region could be gauged from the fact that BJP President Amit Shah arrived here recently and gave the 'mantra' for victory to party workers in Gwalior, Shivpuri and Guna. Political experts opine that a victory on all seats in this region depends, without exception, on candidate selection and campaigning by stalwarts. UNI XC-PS
