Chevrolet has announced the EPA-estimated fuel economy numbers for its 2019 Silverado 1500 truck with the new turbo four engine. The truck uses a 2.7L turbo four-cylinder and in RWD models it is estimated for 20 mpg city and 23 mpg on the highway. The engine lets the truck be lighter coming in 380 pounds less than the 4.3L V6.

The four-cylinder engine is standard on the LT and RST trim of the truck and offers more torque and better acceleration than the old V6 engine. Chevy notes that its new engine exceeds the fuel economy of the standard 3.3L V6 Ford uses (19mpg) and matches the Ram 1500 3.6L V6 mild hybrid (20mpg).

The turbo four makes 310hp and 348 lb-ft of torque. The truck can hit 60mph in 6.8 seconds and can tow 7,200 pounds with a maximum payload of up to 2,280 pounds.
