Google smartphones have always been known and preferred by the customers considering the timely Android updates that tend to land on these devices quicker than any other OEMs out there. This was the case even before the Pixel smartphones in the shape of Google Nexus phones. Now in the latest happenings, Google has updated the support page to reflect how long the latest Android updates would keep flowing towards the smartphones.

Generally, in the smartphone industry, Android updates roll out to the latest smartphones for two years while the monthly security updates follow for three years. In short, two major Android versions are supposed to be rolled out as per the support documentation of various manufactures though some bring that number down to just one through various loopholes. Google just recently rolled out the first software update since Android Pie recently.

There is no apparent reason behind the fix two years span though it seems to go inline with the two years of carrier contract and as well as the phone’ warranty period. Apple, on the other hand, does far better in this regard, sending out the software updates for over 3-4 years old devices and Google seems to be catching up with the increased three-year support for which got initiated after the Pixel 2 smartphone.

In short, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, would be getting updates until 2021 October. What do you think about this? Let us know in the comment section below.
