Joe Root gets hitched with girlfriend Carrie Cotterell
This the wedding season for the English cricket team captains. After England's limited- overs skipper, Eoin Morgan, now England Test captain, Joe Root got married to his partner Carrie Cotterell in Sheffield. The stylish English player arrived in a white Rolls Royce with dad Matt and best-man, brother Billy.
Joe had proposed Carrie before the 2016 World Twenty20. The 27-year-old cricketer and Cotterell had been dating for just under two years before Root decided to take their romantic relationship to the next level and asked her to marry him.
Recently, under Root's leadership, England became only the third team to complete a 3-0 whitewash in Sri Lanka after Australia and India. It was also England's first ever whitewash in Asia. So it turned out to be quite a historical tour for the Poms under Root's captaincy.
Root will be traveling to Australia next week to play for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash. The right-hander found no bidders in 2018 Indian Premier League. Now, he will love to prove his credentials as a T20 player in Big Bash, which is one of the top T20 leagues in the world. Root averages 35.77 after 26 T20I innings with a strike-rate of 128.59.
