Nagaland MRV Campaign completes with 98% coverage
DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 4 (MExN): The state-wide Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) spanning 58 days managed to achieve 98% coverage during the time of its conclusion on November 29.
A press note from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare informed that a State Task Force meeting on Immunization was organised on November 30 chaired by I Himato Zhimomi, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare and attended by senior officials of allied departments, medical department and partner organisations (UNDP, WHO, UNICEF).
Review of campaign activities and performance of all 11 districts were discussed in course of power-point presentations by department officials and SMO WHO.
The department acknowledged the Chief Minister, Minister of H&FW, Administration, School Education, Social Welfare, Power, Police and Paramilitary for their constant support and co-operation throughout the campaign.
Also, special mention was made to thank all health workers at the grassroot levels (especially ANMs, Vaccinators, ASHAs and Anganwadi Workers) and all the Schools, Village Councils, Wards/Colonies, Religious Organisations, NGOs and responsible parents who had contributed towards the successful completion of MRVC in the State.
The Department further encouraged all involved during the MR Campaign to continue supporting the Department in future activities also.
“Despite various ill-informed rumours and false prophecies initially crippling the Campaign, the current achievement was only made possible through extensive co-operation, IEC support and financial aids received from all quarters,” the department said.
With the campaign successfully concluded, it affirmed the department’s commitment to monitor new Measles and Rubella cases through active surveillance and further strengthen Routine Immunization activities in the State with the experiences gained during the campaign.
