Narendra Modi is all set to visit Solapur amidst the recent fallout with Shiv Sena

The upcoming visit of the prime minister is his third trio in four months and is significant because of the recent fallout and uncertainty over the BJP’s alliance with Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.

The Prime Minister would be visiting Solapur to foundation stone of quite a few infrastructure projects along with a scheduled address to the public. This visit comes following the remark by BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday asking party workers to be prepared to fight elections alone in Maharashtra. Amit Shah’s remarks had come in light of Shiv Sena chiefs remarks about PM Modi and that he was no longer interested in an alliance with the BJP.

Maharashtra which has 48 Lok Sabha seats is an important state for the ruling BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In 2014 BJP had bagged 23 seats while shivs sena had managed to bag 18 seats.

Solapur which is located in the south of Maharshtra will see inauguration of infrastructure and housing projects worth Rs 3,168 crore, which would also include laying the foundation for Rs 1,811.33 crore housing project under Prime Minster housing scheme that would offer more than 30,000 houses to the economically marginalized communities.

Prime Minister Modi would also bring into force the four lane Solarpur-Tuljapur- Osmanabad section on National Highway 211. The Rs 972.50 Crore project was awarded to IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd. The highway aims to improve connectivity between Solapur and the Marathwada region.

The Public meeting supposed to be organized in parallel to these inaugurations is a strategic step according to BJP poll strategists which they say will help the BJP to highlight their work and reach out to masses.

The BJP is perhaps going back to its old trick of public speaking spree by the Prime Minister ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections.
