Virat Kohli gives out his verdict on Hardik Pandya's controversial comments
Indian skipper Virat Kohli finally opened up on the controversy involving Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, which ignited a huge backlash on the social media. Hardik Pandya had apparently made racist, sexist and misogynistic comments on TV talk show Koffee With Karan.
Virat Kohli said, "We as the Indian cricket team and responsible cricketers don't align with those views, those were individual opinions. We are still waiting for a decision to be made."
"From the Indian cricket team's point of view, this changes nothing in our beliefs in the change room, it does nothing to the spirit we have have been able to create. Combinations will have to be thought of once the decision comes out," Kohli added.
Hardik Pandya had come out with an apology on micro-blogging site, Twitter, after he was criticized for his inappropriate comments. His apology wasn't enough as the BCCI issued a show cause notice to both KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya.
Pandya had expressed regret in his response to the show cause notice.
CoA member Diana Edulji has demanded bans on both KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya while BCCI CoA chief Vinod Rai has recommended two-ODI ban for Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul.
India will take on Australia in three-match ODI series beginning from January 12 at Sydney Cricket Ground.
