Former India opener and famously known as the ‘Nawab of Najafgarh” Virender Sehwag recalled some funny incidents of the Indian team during a talk show What the Duck with Vikram Sathaye. Sehwag and former India skipper and coach Anil Kumble was present in the show and shared a lot of secrets from the dressing room.

Virender Sehwag further recalled that the celebration after the retirement of Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble were much bigger than the celebration after winning the 2011 World Cup. Sehwag stated that it was perhaps the first time ever in his life that Anil Kumble tasted alcohol. He recalled Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble also stood in chairs and gulped shots of hard drinks.

He further added that it was the best ever celebration he was ever part of in the Indian dressing room. Sehwag also clarified that for that sort of an environment having a drink or two was very necessary according to the occasion.

Two of the greatest ever Indian cricketers were retiring in the same series and the occasion was huge. Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar had also become the highest run scorer in Test cricket during the course of the series so it was a huge moment.

Meanwhile, during the talk show, Anil Kumble also revealed how Virender Sehwag denied him from scoring a well deserved 2nd Test century. It was a match against Australia when he was batting on 86 and Sehwag came and asked Kumble to hit a boundary as things were becoming pretty boring. He attempted a big shot and was caught behind.

Both Kumble and Sehwag are all-time legends and are one of the greatest ever match winners for India. While Kumble is the leading wicket-taker for India in Tests, Sehwag literally changed the concept of Test cricket in India during his tenure for Team India.
