This Kerala girls' team entered cricket history for the wrong reasons
New Delhi, May 16: International cricket has seen records galore but it is indeed a rare occasion when an inter-district girl's tournament manages to leave its mark on the annals of the gentleman's game.
The Kasaragod under-19 girls team managed to achieve this rare feat during an inter-district match against Wayanad at the Perinthalmanna Cricket stadium in the Malappuram district of Kerala on Wednesday.
All 10 batters of the Kasaragod team were dismissed for a duck. Apart from the fact that all the Kasaragod girls had to go back without being able to open their respective accounts, a further interesting thing is that the manner of dismissal of all of them is similar - every single on of them were bowled.
This is the first such recorded instance in the history of cricket.
Even the batter who remained not out failed to open her account.
Despite being unable to get even a single run off the bat, the Kasaragod team did manage to post four runs on the board thanks to the generosity of the opposition bowlers.
The Wayanad batters needed less an over to notch up the required five runs and posted a commanding 10-wicket victory.
Kasaragod had won the toss and elected to bat first. The match had started on a slow but steady note for them as openers K Veekshitha and S Chaitra survived the first two overs without scoring a run.
But Wayanad captain Nithya Loordh started the downfall by claiming three wickets in the third over.
