Yuvraj Singh Names Sourav Ganguly and Ganguly Kirsten as his Favourite
2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh has picked former Team India skipper Sourav Ganguly and coach Gary Kirsten as his favourite leader and coach respectively. Recently, Yuvraj has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket after representing India for a little over 19 years.
Even though Yuvraj’s last international game in 2017 against the Windies, his never say die attitude has kept him pushing himself to impress the selectors. Yuvraj, who himself had a fair share of controversies further cherished the gentleman’s game before .
Way back in 2000, the southpaw has made his debut under one of India’s successful captain, Ganguly. The latter is fondly known as ‘Dada’ in the cricketing circles. The prominent batsman Yuvraj has not only produced a good show with the bat. But he eventually delivered goods for the Men in Blue with the ball.
The 2011 World Cup’s man of the tournament, Yuvraj in his emotional retirement speech revealed he was happy to share the dressing room with the legends of the game. He added he considers himself lucky to play alongside his hero Sachin Tendulkar.

The 37-year-old star cricketer Yuvraj has credited Kirsten and Ganguly for playing an essential role during his career. In his retirement speech, Yuvraj has thanked both the veterans for guiding him through.
He has highly spoken of Ganguly for instilling belief in him during the initial years of his cricketing career.
“Sourav Ganguly was very authoritative when it came to fighting for his players. He wanted certain players that he should back to build a team. Players like myself, Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh and Virender Sehwag. He built us guys together,” he added.
Known as partnership-breaker, Yuvraj has deceived top-notch batsmen which further emerged a pivotal moment of his brilliant career.
Yuvraj, who himself has witnessed ups and downs in his life didn’t bog down when he battled cancer before playing the tenth edition of the World Cup in India.
While speaking about his friends, Yuvraj reiterated that he has played along with a good bunch of players. Furthermore, they went on to win games for the national team. He has rated Kirsten as one of the finest coaches in the international set-up.

This is the same batch that created history and went on to win the World Cup under the great captaincy of MS Dhoni and exceptional coaching of Gary Kirsten, probably the best international coach I played under,” Yuvraj elaborated.

Yuvraj, who slammed 14 hundreds and 52 half-centuries in his day-long career has hailed . The veteran middle-order batsman has lauded Dhoni calm and composed nature.
Besides, he has also praised him on being an astute thinker and very sharp behind the stumps.
The veteran all-rounder has scored over 11000 runs across formats for India. He has featured in 304 ODIs, 58 T20Is and 40 Tests between 2000 and 2019.
