Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son, Archie Harrison, was christened this weekend at a small ceremony in Windsor.

The couple shared two beautiful photos from the day on their official Instagram account, and the world got to see tiny Archie’s face for the first time in the sweet snaps by photographer Chris Allerton.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had previously released a statement telling royal fans that they would be holding a private christening and keeping Archie’s godparents a secret, so many were thrilled when they decided to share the photos from the day.

And eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot that the couple paid tribute to Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.

Firstly, Archie was christened in the Queen’s Private Chapel at Windsor Castle, and the official photographs were taken in the Green Drawing Room. Why is this important? It’s the same room that Harry and Meghan posed for their wedding photographs back in 2018, but they are also sat on the same sofa that Prince Charles and Princess Diana included in the photos from Harry’s christening in 1984.

Diana’s sisters Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale were also included in the official family photo taken at Windsor Castle. They stood alongside Meghan’s mum, Doria Ragland and Harry’s brother, Prince William, and it isn’t the first time that Harry has included his mother’s side of the family.

When the Sussexes announced that they had welcomed their son, their statement read: ‘…The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.’

And in a final nod to the late Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton wore Diana’s Collingwood Pearl Earrings – the same pair that she wore to Harry’s christening.

So lovely.
