We believe everyone is on the same grounds when we talk about acne being a major headache. While acne in itself was a major pain to deal with, here’s something new which is called cystic acne. This is something which most of us are highly unaware of. Cystic acne comes in when our acne gets worse. The breakouts are large and massive and the pain is almost next to being unbearable, nothing short of a nightmare.

Cystic acne

So what exactly is cystic acne? Well cystic acne happens when the pores on your skin gets clogged with oil, dust and dead skin cells to form pimples. Many a times, bacteria also gets into the pores resulting in the skin to swell up and become all red. When this very infection goes in deep causing the formation of pus and bumps, this very condition is called cystic acne.

This type of acne goes in far more deeper and pains like there is no tomorrow. It itches and hurts and usually occurs on the face, however, it can affect the neck, back and shoulders.

Cystic acne is more likely to happen to women, it is usually caused because of menstruation, pregnancy or menopause. Genetics play a major role which means if your parents went through it, you’re most likely to go through it as well.

As always, we’re here to rescue you from this gory problem. Listed below are quick and easy home remedies which will help you get rid of cystic acne.

Apple cider vinegar

ACV is almost everywhere. ACV balances the pH value of the skin and also has inflammatory properties.  All you need is raw apple cider vinegar, cotton pads and water. Take a cotton pad and dip it in raw apple cider vinegar. Warning: If you think ACV is too strong for your skin then make sure that you mix it with some water and make it milder. Dap the cotton pad on the affected area and leave it on. Another way to deal with it is to mix a teaspoon of ACV in water and sip it throughout the day. Do this twice a day to get the best results.

Epsom salt

Epsom salt helps in absorbing the excess oil and also eliminates the acne-causing bacteria from the skin. It also helps in reducing the swelling and pain which is why it works wonders on the skin. Just take 2 tablespoon of epsom salt, one and a half tablespoon of baking soda and water. Mix it all together and form a paste. Apply it on the affected area and let it dry. Wash it off with cool water. Do this on every alternate day to get the best results.

Neem oil

Neem oil is the best remedy for cystic acne. Apart from killing the bacteria that causes cystic acne it also reduces the redness and the burning sensation. All you need is neem oil and cotton pads. Apply it on the affected area and leave it on overnight. Do this two to three times a day to get the best results.

Baking soda

Baking soda absorbs the excess oil and also kills the bacteria causing the infections. Take 2 tablespoon of baking soda and mix it with a little bit of water to make a paste of it. Apply it on the affected area and leave it on for about 15-20 minutes or until it dries up. Pat dry and wash it off with lukewarm water. Apply a moisturiser on it to soothe the skin. Carry this on twice or thrice a week to get the best results.
