Jennifer Lopez may be keeping her fans up-to-date with her life on social media, but a picture shared by the singer has got her into trouble. The 'Jenny From The Block' singer is being sued in a USD 150,000 lawsuit by a photo agency for copyright infringement. The picture in question dates back to 2017 when the singer had shared it on Instagram without appropriate permission. It also includes her fiance Alex Rodriguez in the picture.
According to a report in Page Six, the lawsuit which has been filed in US District Court for the Central District of California accuses the 'Hustlers' actress of not having permission to use the agency's image. Clicked in New York City in 2017, the photo shows Jennifer Lopez holding hands with Alex Rodriguez while they were out for grabbing breakfast in the Big Apple in 2017.
The lawsuit states that the agency “never licensed the photograph to (Lopez).” Nevertheless, Lopez used it without authorization or permission from to do so." The suit continues to add, "The photograph is creative, distinctive and valuable. Because of the subject’s celebrity status, and the photograph’s quality and visual appeal, (Splash and the photographer it represents) stood to gain revenue from licensing the photograph."
This is not the first time, celebs in the West have been sued for sharing such copyrighted images. Early this year, singer Ariana Grande was also sued in a similar case. Jennifer Lopez has not yet responded to the lawsuit.
