New Britain man accused of sexually assaulting 11-year-old girl, police say

Hartford Courant 2019-10-10 02:33:17

A New Britain man has been arrested and charged in connection with the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl over the past year.

Reynald Santiago, 39, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and illegal sexual contact with a victim younger than 16, according to New Britain police records.

An arrest warrant detailing the charges against Santiago has been sealed by a judge, so little information about the case was available Tuesday, Deputy Chief Jeanette Portalatin said.

The assaults against the girl occurred during the past year and were reported to police in August, Portalatin said. The girl is known to the suspect, she said.

Reynald Santiago is not related to Frank Santiago, a New Britain accused earlier this year of smashing his 3-year-old daughter’s head on the concrete floor of their apartment, Portalatin said.

Reynald Santiago was released on $350,000 bond, according to court records.
