It is all English medium schools in AP

The AP government had decided to convert all its primary and upper primary schools into English medium from the next academic year. A decision was taken by chief minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy at the review meeting with the officials. The government will introduce English medium in all schools from Cass I to Class VIII from 2020-21 academic year starting in June 2020. The Class IX and Class X will be converted to English medium from the second academic year starting in June 2021.

The Chief Minister had directed the officials to make arrangements for the English medium courses accordingly. The teachers in these schools will be imparted training in English medium during this summer. The text books in English medium too would be ready by June 2020. The chief minister also asked the officials to start recruitment of teachers in English medium for all the subjects from primary to the upper primary classes. All vacancies in the schools would now to be filled with those who can teach English medium.

The State government had also decided to provide infrastructure to all the schools, colleges and hostels in three phases starting November 14. The government had identified over 45,000 schools across the state to the facelift programme under Nadu-Nedu scheme. The officials were asked to take photographs of these schools now and start the facelift programme. Once the infrastructure is provided, the officials will take the photograph of the same school and display the two photographs for the people to judge the scheme.

All schools will be covered in the first phase followed by all government colleges in the second phase. The residential schools and the welfare hostels would be taken up in the third phase for the facelift. The chief minister told the officials to get the scheme launched in phased manner and complete the scheme by 2021.

The government hospitals, including the primary health centres too would get facelift under the scheme. This would start on December 15 and would be completed in two years. The chief minister had told the officials of the medical and health to get the scheme implemented to facelift all the hospitals with the support of the philanthropists and service organisations.
