WWE Adamant To Host Summerslam 2020 With Fans In Attendance?
WWE had booked for August 23rd in Boston, Massachusetts but that’s not where the show will go down considering the rules adopted by the city’s authority amid the Coronavirus pandemic. The Boston Mayor large events until early September that is Labor Day. He strictly says events with large gatherings won’t be allowed, at all. It means WWE will need to figure out something for an alternative venue.
Previous reports suggested that WWE is considering rescheduling Summerslam 2020 to the fall. It is a safe option assuming that fans could attend shows during that time. But the originally scheduled big-four pay-per-view Survivor Series could be affected by the rescheduling. So, at present WWE is looking for an alternate arena where at least some of the fans will be in attendance for SummerSlam 2020.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Vince McMahon is pretty adamant about hosting SummerSlam 2020 with fans. After toning down the biggest event WrestleMania 36 to a big extent, he doesn’t want the next one in line to go down without the audience. So, he is looking forward to rescheduling the event keeping the same date intact for the show. Here’s more from the show,
At this point, nothing has been finalized for SummerSlam 2020 as the coronavirus situation hasn’t improved, significantly. Some of the states, however decided to allow to conduct shows with fans that must have boosted up confidence for McMahon and Co. WWE won’t be in a problem while finding states those are much more willing to allow live fans in sporting events.
Florida, Georgia, Arizona, and Oklahoma showed interests to be the host of sporting events depending on which McMahon has already spoken about having backup plans during the Q1 financial call, last month. In the end, the rescheduling of SummerSlam completely lies at the hands of Vince McMahon himself.
