Sensex drops 421.82 pts
Mumbai, Jul 29 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Wednesday nosedived by 421.82 points to settle at 38,071.13 as selling pressure was witnessed in Energy, Auto, IT, Oil and Gas and Technology stocks.
The nifty of national stock exchange too fell by 97.70 pts to 11,202.85.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 11,341.40 and 11,149.75 pts respectively.
Surging by 558 pts on Tuesday, the day opened on a weak note at 38,427.15, fell by 65 pts. During the day it dropped nearly 608 pts to 37,884 days low before closing at 38,071.13, sliding by 421.82 pts from its last close.
The sectoral indices like Energy, Auto, IT, Oil and Gas and Technology stocks dragged the market.
Nestle India ended 3 per cent lower on the BSE on Wednesday after the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) major announced its June quarter numbers for the fiscal year 2020-21.
For the quarter under review, NestlĂŠ India on Tuesday reported an 11.14 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 486.60 crore for the quarter ended June 2020, helped by an increase in sales.
In scrips, main draggers were Reliance Industries, M& M, HCL Technologies, Nestle India and HDFC Bank.
While buying in IbdusInd Bank, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finance and L& T capped from further losses, broker informed.
The Mid Cap rose by 0.68 pc and Small Cap moved up by 0.43 pc.
In 30 scrips, 11 advanced while 19 declined.
