Brendan Moran, Kenneth Facer to face trial for alleged Bondi rape
A Sydney lawyer and his private investigator mate are set to stand trial over the alleged sexual assault of a young woman in the pool of a luxury eastern suburbs mansion.
Brendan Joseph Moran and Julian Kenneth Facer are accused of raping the woman, 21, at Mr Moran’s stunning North Bondi home, which was once featured on Grand Designs Australia.
Police will allege in court the pair invited the woman back to the Clyde St home following a Melbourne Cup party on November 6 last year before assaulting her as they frolicked in the pool.
Both men appeared at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday and were committed to stand trial in the District Court on three charges each.
Mr Moran’s wife, who has supported him at previous court appearances, was not in attendance.
The 52-year-old, who is still listed as a partner on the website of CMC Lawyers, is charged with sexual touching without consent and two counts of sexual intercourse without consent.
Mr Facer, 53, of Bellingen, is charged with the same offences. The professional sleuth worked as a contractor for CMC.
The court heard on Thursday that prosecutors had withdrawn two charges of aggravated sexual assault in company against both men.
No pleas have been recorded.
Eastern Suburbs police arrested the duo at the North Bondi mansion on December 19 following a month-long investigation.
They were granted bail at Waverley Local Court and remain on bail ahead of their arraignment for trial in the District Court on August 28.
